Welcome to the Stoney Point Stingrays

The Stoney Point Stingrays swim team was established in the Fall of 2005 as a new team within the Iowa YMCA Competitive Swimming Association. During the summer season the Stingray swim team competes in the Cedar Rapids Recreation Department Swim League. Each year the team has seen growth and success at all levels. We have been very pleased with the support from parents and the participation of the kids.

2009 Summer Season

Head Coach Paul Below and Assistant Coach Greta McChesney are returning for another exciting season. The Stoney Point YMCA's summer swim team is a great way to experience the fun and excitement of competitive swimming for the first time or continue on from past experience.

Register in person beginning May 4th at the Stoney Point YMCA located at 300 Stoney Point Rd SW in Cedar Rapids. Space is limited so register early.

Swimmers should be able to accomplish the following:

If 10 years or younger, swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) of both freestyle and one other competitive stroke.

If 11 or older, swim 50 yards of both freestyle and one other competitive stroke.

To provide a fun and challenging competitive swim environment where the swimmers will develop life long character skills and healthy fitness lifestyles.

The Stoney Point Stingrays swim team is part of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan YMCA and is governed by the Iowa YMCA Competition Committee.
